Ruth E. Walker still has the book she “borrowed” from her high school library: Ray Bradbury’s R is for Rocket. Raised on fairy tales and fables, her broad literary appetite introduced her to Shakespeare, Isaac Asimov, Stephen King and Margaret Atwood.

Ruth’s fiction and poetry have appeared in Canada and abroad in magazines and journals including On Spec, Dread Mondays, Science Creative Quarterly, Geist, Event, & Prairie Fire. Her novel, Living Underground, was a top ten 2013 book for the Canadian Authors Association and she is the co-author of Inspiration Station, a writing resource book.

She is a skilled writing coach and edits for both private clients and on contract with publishers. For over a decade, Ruth served as artist in residence for the Durham District School Board at Durham Alternative Secondary and at Durham Integrated Arts Camp. She occasionally blogs at writescape.ca and her novels are represented by Ali McDonald at 5 Otter Literary.
